In a recent visit to the Bo Districts, Inspector General of Police William Fayia Sellu urged police commanders to intensify their efforts in preventing crime. Addressing Southern Region Commanders, IGP Sellu highlighted the importance of renewed commitment and strategic execution of the police’s core objectives.

During his address, he emphasized the necessity for detailed operational plans from all Operations Officers, insisting on comprehensive records of arrests and key activities. The IGP expressed concern over the apparent negligence of the Strategic Development Plan (SDP) by some Local Unit Commanders (LUCs), stressing that crime fighting, community engagement, and proactive policing are fundamental to their roles.

“Community engagement is not optional; it is a critical metric in evaluating your contributions to the Strategic Development Plan,” IGP Sellu stated firmly.

He further pointed out that effective LUCs must prioritize operations, investigations, and intelligence. With resources and assets specifically designed for local conditions, he encouraged commanders to optimize their effectiveness.

“The uniforms you wear symbolize a solemn commitment to serve the public and safeguard our nation,” he reminded the officers. “Do not permit your areas to become havens for armed robbers.”
