Inspector Dumbuya Arrested in Coup Probe at Freetown Airport

Sierra Leone Security Forces have arrested Inspector Joseph Dumbuya at Freetown International Airport, identifying him as a suspect in the failed coup attempt of November 2023.

The report surfaced on the afternoon of April 2, 2025, as the Sierra Leone government escalates its efforts to locate all individuals involved in the coup, which jeopardized the nation’s peace and stability. Following the incident, the government released a list of suspects, most of whom are believed to have connections to the main opposition party, the All People’s Congress (APC), and its northern stronghold.

The arrest has sparked significant public interest, with citizens expressing their gratitude to the security personnel at the airport for their dedication to maintaining national security.
