It is with a heavy heart that the Thomas families announced the death their beloved Mother, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother and friend the late Mrs Gina Evelyn Banda-Thomas who passed way on the 30th October 2025
Born on 19th May 1949
Age: 76yrs
Mrs. Gina Banda-Thomas was a former Director -General of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Service (SLBS) and later the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) was a trailblazer whose vision and leadership transformed national broadcasting.
Mrs Banda was also a mentor to many young broadcasters, encouraging professionalism, creativity and integrity in media practice.
Her legacy of service, wisdom,and inspiration will continue to live on.
Funeral arrangements are as follows
- Vigil is on Tuesday 18th November 2025, @7pm, at 9AFifth St. Right Juba Hill
- Funeral is on Wednesday 19th November 2025
- Laying out at the family resident from 9am-10:30am
- Civic laying out at Freetown City Council from 11am-12:30pm
- Funeral & Requiem Mass @ St.Anthony’s Parish Brookfields at 1pm
- Interment at the Ascension Town Cemetry.
