Joseph Munda Bindi Becomes NaCCED Chairman

Freetown, The National Council for Civic Education and Development (NaCCED) has officially welcomed Joseph Munda Bindi as its new chairman, succeeding Ibrahim Kalilu Totangi in a significant transition for the organization. The handover ceremony, held in Freetown, highlighted Totangi’s impactful six-year tenure, during which he reinvigorated civic education in Sierra Leone, establishing NaCCED as a crucial player in national development.

During the ceremony, Totangi expressed both pride and emotion, reflecting on the progress made under his leadership. “I am not only pleased but also emotional,” he stated, acknowledging the transformation of NaCCED into a household name. Under his guidance, the council made civic education a key component in schools and communities, significantly enhancing its recognition and influence across the nation.

Incoming chairman Joseph Munda Bindi thanked President Julius Maada Bio for the opportunity to serve and praised the foundational work laid by Totangi. He emphasized the critical role that civic education plays in fostering national growth and stability, stating, “Civic education is the answer to our country’s development.” Bindi’s vision for NaCCED focuses on leveraging civic education as a tool for empowerment and engagement.

Bindi committed to advancing NaCCED’s initiatives aimed at promoting national awareness and addressing societal challenges. He expressed confidence that, under his leadership, the council would continue to drive progress and enhance civic participation, ultimately contributing to the betterment of Sierra Leone.
