Freetown, Sierra Leone The Court of Appeal has officially dismissed the appeal of convicted former politician Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray and issued warrants for his arrest, following his repeated failures to appear in court.

The ruling was announced on Monday, November 10, 2025, by a panel led by Hon. Justice A.M. Bangurah, who presided over the session alongside Hon. Mrs. Justice T. Barnett and Hon. Mr. Justice A.S. Allieu. The court dismissed Mansaray’s appeal “for want of prosecution,” referencing Rule 53 of the Court of Appeal Rules 1985, citing a “persistent absence” of both Mansaray and his legal counsel from court proceedings, with no prior communication to explain their non-attendance.

In addition to dismissing the appeal, the court issued a bench warrant for the immediate arrest of Mansaray, a convicted individual. Furthermore, it confirmed that a previously issued bench warrant for his surety, Aisha Mansaray, remains active. A surety is a person who undertakes to ensure the accused’s appearance in court.

The appeal, which was filed on March 15, 2023, was recorded under case number CR.APP 1/2023, with Mansaray listed as the appellant and the State as the respondent. Notably, during the final hearing, only the counsel representing the State, Y.I. Sesay Esq., was present in court.
