Kenema District Council Recognized for Environmental Leadership

Kenema, The Kenema District Council, led by Chairperson Madam Francess Musu Jambawai, has been honored by the Environmental Directorate of the Ministry of Health for its exceptional efforts in promoting clean environments across major chiefdom headquarters, towns, and communities within the district. This recognition underscores the council’s commitment to enhancing public health through environmental sustainability.

The award was presented during the annual celebration of the Environmental Public Health Directorate, observed in various districts nationwide. District Environmental Superintendent Murana Koroma commended the council’s unwavering support, emphasizing its crucial role in the directorate’s achievements. “Through the council’s support, we have been able to deploy personnel in these communities to work with local leaders, ensuring regular cleaning, especially during and after market days,” Koroma stated. He assured that the directorate would continue collaborating with the council to sustain these vital efforts.

In her acceptance speech, Madam Jambawai expressed gratitude on behalf of her staff and fellow councilors, describing the award as an inspiration to intensify their initiatives for the district’s development. She pledged to uphold the legacy of her predecessor by prioritizing progress and fostering cooperation with all stakeholders. “We are dedicated to creating a cleaner and healthier environment for our communities,” she remarked.

Madam Jambawai further emphasized the importance of collaboration with the 16 paramount chiefs in the district, stating, “As chairperson, I will work closely with paramount chiefs to ensure the district’s development remains a shared priority.” Her commitment to teamwork and community engagement reflects a proactive approach to addressing environmental challenges and enhancing the overall well-being of the Kenema District.
