The Government of Sierra Leone has signed a groundbreaking Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Ceca and AG&P to establish the region’s first U.S.-backed Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal.
The signing ceremony was conducted by Hon. Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella, representing the Government of Sierra Leone and acting under the authority of His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio. This significant event took place on the sidelines of the U.S.-Africa Trade and Investment Conference in Luanda, Angola.
The new LNG terminal is set to be developed as a regional hub in Sierra Leone, designed to supply the Nant Gas-to-Power Plant at Kissy. It will also serve as a strategic supply point for neighboring countries Liberia and Guinea, marking a major advancement toward regional energy integration.
This flagship project forms a cornerstone of Sierra Leone’s long-term strategy for energy security and a clean energy transition. It underscores the Bio administration’s commitment to delivering sustainable power solutions, enhancing cross-border cooperation, and attracting private sector investment into the energy sector.
