Bo, Sierra Leone – Pastor Ezekiel Musa Koroma, leader of Freedom Chapel Evangelistic Ministry, is currently in police custody following allegations of domestic violence and child abuse. On February 13, the pastor reportedly assaulted his pregnant wife and child after she invited her mother to assist with domestic chores.
Witnesses claim that Pastor Musa has a long history of abusing his wife, with incidents of violence occurring regularly over the past nine years. The recent incident escalated when he allegedly beat his wife throughout the night, in the presence of her sister and his own sister. The situation became critical when the pastor attempted to strike his wife with a blunt object.
Efforts by neighbors to intervene were met with aggression, as Pastor Musa reportedly assaulted one of the peacekeepers. Following the incident, the wife and child were left homeless, seeking refuge with friends while lacking basic necessities.
In a troubling response to the allegations, Pastor Musa dismissed concerns about domestic violence, stating, “Domestic violence is foot.” He has also taken steps to isolate his family further, reportedly contacting his landlord to evict the woman who had offered shelter to his wife and child.
The wife has since filed a statement with the police in Bo, detailing the abuse and fear for her family’s safety. She expressed concern for her life and that of her children, citing the pastor’s history of threats, including claims of potential poisoning. rights organizations, the Ministry of Gender and Children, and the Office of the First Lady are urged to intervene in this dire situation to protect the welfare of the wife and her children. Without immediate action, there are fears for their safety as they continue to navigate this harrowing ordeal.
