Man Dies After Alleged Operation by Impostor Doctors in Freetown

In a tragic incident that has raised serious concerns about medical safety, a man has died after undergoing an operation performed by individuals impersonating medical professionals in the Grassfield area of Freetown.

The victim, identified as *Sahr, was a graduate in electrical engineering and a part-time employee of EDSA. He fell ill while traveling to the provinces with a friend to visit the friend’s sick mother, experiencing severe stomach pains that necessitated immediate medical attention. Initially admitted to **Rokupor Government Hospital, Sahr’s condition continued to deteriorate, prompting his transfer to *Connaught Hospital.

Reports indicate that Sahr underwent an operation lasting *eight hours, during which the family was required to pay **eight thousand leones, including an initial payment of *six thousand leones. Unfortunately, there was no improvement in his condition, and he was later pronounced dead upon arrival at Connaught Hospital.

The family is now seeking justice for Sahr, as the alleged impostors remain at large. Eyewitness accounts suggest that Sahr and his friend were approached by the two men posing as doctors while awaiting transport to Connaught Hospital. The men allegedly convinced them that they could provide the necessary treatment for Sahr’s suspected appendicitis despite lacking proper medical credentials and conducting no legitimate medical examination.

This incident highlights alarming gaps in medical oversight and the urgent need for greater vigilance within the healthcare system to prevent similar tragedies.
