Freetown, Sierra Leone — Andrew Danny Stephanus Lahai has been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility following his appearance in Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 4. He faces charges of defrauding a woman of $2,000 through an alleged fraudulent Canadian visa scheme.
Lahai, making his first court appearance, is charged under Section 32(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916 for obtaining money under false pretenses. The allegations state that between July 7 and July 14, 2025, Lahai deceived Isatu Kargbo by promising to secure a Canadian visa and facilitate travel for Osman Bundu, despite knowing that his assurances were false.
The case is being prosecuted by Inspector A.T. Bangura. Lahai’s legal representative, Lawyer A. Amara, indicated that they are exploring alternative dispute resolution options and requested bail for his client.
After considering the submissions, Magistrate Adama Kandeh denied the bail request and scheduled the next hearing for September 4, 2025.
