Freetown, Sierra Leone – In a compelling address at the first Annual General Meeting (AGM) of The Lawyer’s Society, Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr underscored the vital role of lawyers in maintaining democratic governance. She called upon legal professionals to demonstrate courage, commitment, and consistency in their service to the community.
As a Distinguished Guest at the event, Mayor Aki-Sawyerr emphasized the legal profession’s responsibility in defending democracy, justice, and the nation’s motto: Unity, Freedom, and Justice. She urged attendees to steadfastly protect the rule of law and ensure the safeguarding of citizens’ rights.
Expressing her confidence in the legal fraternity’s ability to act as defenders of democracy, the Mayor wished them success in their professional endeavors. The AGM represented a significant milestone for The Lawyer’s Society, uniting legal professionals to discuss their influential role in shaping Sierra Leone’s democratic landscape.
