The High Court of Sierra Leone received 94 criminal matters on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, marking the opening of its criminal session. Acting Chief Justice Nicholas Browne-Marke presided over the cases, which range from murder, robbery with aggravation, larceny, wounding with intent, and other related matters, all contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone and breaching the Criminal Procedures Act of 1961.
The court session saw the Acting Chief Justice presiding over multiple matters, delivering rulings, and adjourning some cases due to the absence of prosecuting witnesses. Counsel A.J.M. Bockarie represented the State, while Cecilia Tucker from the Legal Aid Board also participated.
The cases committed to the High Court demonstrate the judiciary’s ongoing efforts to address crime and ensure justice in Sierra Leone.
