Minister Denies Sabotage Claims Against Kenya Law Society President

During the Ministry of Information and Civil Education’s weekly press conference, Minister Chernor Bah refuted allegations that the Secretary to the President, Dr. Emmanuel Gaima, sabotaged the attendance of Faith Odhiambo, President of the Kenya Law Society, at the Sierra Leone Lawyers’ Society’s first Annual General Meeting and Conference.

The controversy arose after Claude Bahmee Davies, spokesperson for the Sierra Leone Lawyers’ Society, accused Dr. Gaima of threatening Odhiambo regarding her safety and security during her planned visit. Davies stated, “On Monday, we were informed by Faith Odhiambo, our proposed Keynote Speaker for the AGM, that the Sierra Leone Ambassador to Kenya had approached her and indicated that the Sierra Leone Government does not permit her to travel from Kenya to attend the AGM.”

Minister Bah strongly denied these claims, labeling them as false and misleading. He explained that the High Commission had categorically dismissed the allegations made by a “local group” suggesting that the government had blocked Odhiambo’s attendance due to security concerns.

Furthermore, Minister Bah emphasized that Odhiambo clarified her inability to attend the AGM was due to “supervening circumstances,” and she would participate virtually instead. He reassured the public that Sierra Leone remains open to visitors and does not interfere with individuals traveling to the country.
