MOYA, Freetown, 19 August 2025 — The Minister of Youth Affairs, Ibrahim Sannoh, convened an inspiring roundtable today with prominent figures from Sierra Leone’s entertainment industry, including Entertainment Ambassador Kao Denero, Colabo, Kracktwist, Artical Foyoh, and Mohamed B. Bayoh (Eco), who also serves as the Entertainment Youth Coordinator. While some invited guests were unable to attend, the atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm and creativity.
The primary focus of the meeting was to strategize on how to promote Sierra Leonean music on a global scale. Minister Sannoh announced that he has initiated discussions with the Managing Director of Trace, one of the world’s leading music platforms, to feature Sierra Leonean music videos on the channel.
“This initiative transcends music; it’s about showcasing Sierra Leone’s talent on a global stage,” Minister Sannoh stated. “Our rhythms, voices, and creativity deserve international recognition. Partnering with Trace is just the beginning; we are setting the stage for Sierra Leone to shine.”
The artists responded positively to the news, recognizing it as a transformative opportunity for the industry. Kao Denero remarked, “For too long, we’ve struggled to gain international attention for our music. This is the bold move we’ve been waiting for. If Trace opens the door, Sierra Leonean music will undoubtedly take center stage.” Prezo Colabo added, “This is a historic moment! The government is finally providing the momentum our industry needs. Now it’s our turn to elevate our craft.”
Minister Sannoh also highlighted two significant upcoming events: the Mano River Union Youth Conekt 2025, scheduled for October in Sierra Leone, which will honor local artists, and the inaugural Youth Festival set for December. The festival aims not only to celebrate music, arts, and culture but also to raise funds to support programs for youth affected by substance abuse.
“Entertainment is more than just enjoyment; it serves as a vehicle for healing, empowerment, and nation-building,” the Minister emphasized. “Through this Youth Festival, we aim to generate resources to assist our brothers and sisters struggling with addiction in finding a new path.”
The meeting concluded with laughter and a shared commitment between the Ministry and the artists to advance Sierra Leone’s entertainment sector to unprecedented heights.
