Freetown, Sierra Leone — On May 17, 2025, the Minister of Youth Affairs, Ibrahim Sannoh, paid a courtesy visit to the National Youth Service (NYS) headquarters, focusing on team unity and collaboration among staff.
In his address to the staff and board, Minister Sannoh emphasized that his visit was intended not for praise or criticism, but to offer encouragement and guidance to enhance the institution’s effectiveness. “We are here to serve; nothing is permanent,” he remarked, expressing gratitude to the NYS staff and management, particularly acknowledging the contributions of volunteers.
The Minister stressed the importance of working together, stating, “A house divided amongst itself will not survive.” He called for a united approach to effectively achieve the agency’s objectives.
The visit was warmly received by Onanah Jalloh, the Executive Director of the National Youth Service, who expressed appreciation for the Minister’s “timely visit.” During the meeting, Executive Director Jalloh outlined the NYS’s mandate and highlighted its positive impact on the lives of young people in Sierra Leone. He assured Minister Sannoh that the organization is committed to its mission and will take his advice seriously as they move forward.
