Mercury International, Sierra Leone’s leading betting company, has presented a brand-new Suzuki car to Sorie Mansaray, a student at Milton Margai Technical University, as the grand prize winner of its “Start of Season Raffle Draw.” The award ceremony took place on January 10, 2025, at the New Sella Spot on Kingharman Road in Freetown. The event also recognized a runner-up, who received a cash prize of NLe 5,000.

The raffle, part of Mercury International’s promotional campaign, began on August 1, 2024, and concluded on January 1, 2025. To qualify for the draw, participants were required to place a minimum bet of NLe 25 on any sport and make at least ten bets weekly. Bets placed using Mercury bonuses, free bets, or those linked to canceled games or early cash-outs were not eligible.

Although unable to attend the event in person, Mercury International’s Managing Director, Martin Edward Michael, addressed attendees through a video message. He congratulated the winners and shared a success story of a previous raffle winner who turned his prize into a thriving business. Michael encouraged winners to maximize the potential of their rewards and announced upcoming promotions, including chances to win motorbikes and additional cars.

Octovus Jackson, Deputy Online Manager, elaborated on the raffle process, highlighting its transparency. He explained that winners were chosen through a 3D drawing conducted by UK-based service providers. Jackson also introduced the “Champion’s League Raffle,” set to launch on January 15, 2025, which features reduced stakes to accommodate current economic conditions. Furthermore, a new “Reward Hub” program was announced, allowing customers to earn points for every NLe 25 bet, redeemable for items at Mercury International’s store.

Sorie Mansaray, a 25-year-old Public Administration student at Milton Margai Technical University, expressed his excitement and gratitude following his win. A frequent bettor who often stakes up to NLe 500, Mansaray was initially skeptical when informed of his victory but was thrilled to learn it was genuine. He plans to use the car to support his family and further his education, encouraging others to participate in similar raffles for their chance at success.

Mercury International remains committed to rewarding its loyal customers and transforming lives. With more promotions on the horizon, the company continues to solidify its position as Sierra Leone’s premier betting platform, providing life-changing opportunities for its clientele.
