The Honourable Fallah Kenawah Tengbeh, Member of Parliament for Kailahun District (Constituency 002), has expressed serious concerns regarding the recent actions of the Guinean Armed Forces (GAF). On September 30, 2025, the GAF raised a Guinean national flag approximately 30 meters beyond the borders of Yenga village, near an illegally constructed beacon.

MP Tengbeh condemned this act as a “callous negation” of Sierra Leone’s sovereignty and an “illegal occupation” that undermines the dignity of the Yenga border area. While emphasizing the country’s commitment to peace and diplomatic resolutions, he proposed three key recommendations to address the situation:

  1. Immediate deployment of security forces to strategic villages including Yaladu, Fendu Kpongoma, Payluang, Kamalo, and Kpaingbakordu.
  2. Rapid engagement with international bodies, such as the International Court of Justice (ICJ), to address the border violation.
  3. Increased investment in national security to prevent future transgressions.

“The people of Yenga deserve peace, safety, and respect,” MP Tengbeh asserted, calling for prompt action to ensure the protection of the region’s inhabitants.
