National Conference Celebrates International Youth Day with Focus on Empowerment

The Ministry of Youth Affairs, in partnership with key stakeholders, convened a National Conference at the Bintumani International Conference Centre to celebrate International Youth Day. This year’s theme, “Youth Empowerment Through Agriculture, Skills, and Innovation for a Sustainable Future,” underscored the pivotal role of youth in national development.

Minister of Youth Affairs Ibrahim Sannoh led the opening ceremony, highlighting the essential contribution of young people as leaders and change-makers in today’s society. “Young people are not just the future; they are the leaders and change-makers of today,” he asserted.

The keynote address was presented by Madam Kenyeh Barley, Minister of Planning and Economic Development. She commended the youth for their significant contributions to Sierra Leone and emphasized their vital role in fostering national growth. “Today is a celebration of your efforts in enhancing global society and encouraging meaningful engagement in your communities,” she stated.

The conference, which coincided with the golden jubilee of International Youth Day, featured discussions on digital innovation and sustainable development, reinforcing the message that young people are proactive agents of change. Through this event, the Ministry of Youth Affairs reaffirmed its commitment to creating an environment where youth can flourish and make meaningful contributions to the nation’s advancement.
