Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh officially inaugurated the new Kombra Market at Devil Hole, a project initiated by the Kombra Foundation in collaboration with local stakeholders and the China Railway Seventh Group (CRSG). This construction company has been a vital partner in Sierra Leone’s development for over ten years.

During the opening ceremony, Vice President Jalloh highlighted that the market was established in direct response to community requests for a secure and well-constructed space for women traders to sell their goods. “This community is one that I frequent, and after numerous requests for support, I worked with stakeholders to deliver this market,” he stated, also noting the project’s inclusion of completing a previously unfinished school building.

The Vice President commended the community for their role in actualizing the project and urged them to take ownership of its continued success. “This initiative belongs to you, and I thank you for your support,” he remarked, describing the Kombra Market as a testament to what can be accomplished when communities collaborate with partners to meet their needs.

“I am extremely proud of the outcome and the anticipated impact, particularly for women,” he added.

The Kombra Foundation is a humanitarian organization committed to uplifting communities, promoting social inclusion, and driving sustainable development across Sierra Leone. Named after the Krio word “Kombra,” which symbolizes a mother’s unwavering care for her children, the foundation embodies values of compassion, service, and empowerment for all.
