The National Public Procurement Authority (NPPA) has held an internal training workshop to prepare staff for digitized price-norm reporting via the Electronic Government Procurement (E-GP) platform.

The session part of a series of capacity-building activities ahead of the Authority’s full digital procurement rollout focused on capturing, validating and publishing price-norm data within the E-GP system. Consultant Alie Bangura, speaking for the E-GP team, said the training is intended to help staff move from manual procedures to a fully digital workflow that enhances efficiency, accuracy and transparency in public procurement.

Attendees received hands-on instruction in using the E-GP portal as the official channel for entering, reviewing and publishing price norms. The training covered the workflow for market data collected by field teams: uploading into the portal, internal validation, and subsequent publication for public access.

Practical demonstrations included creating price norms through the “Price Norm Add” feature entering titles, descriptions and start dates, grouping items into categories with unique identification codes, and selecting products from the Item Master database. Trainers also showed how to include key specifications such as country of origin.

Facilitators stressed the central role of the Item Master as the authoritative database for items used in price norms. Staff were taught how to upload and maintain entries via CSV or Excel files, and warned that replacing uploaded files will overwrite existing datasets underscoring the need for careful data management to preserve accuracy.

Participants welcomed the training and urged continued engagement to resolve technical issues. NPPA officials said follow-up sessions will be held to address system configuration and other operational concerns as the Authority advances its digital procurement infrastructure.
