Freetown, Sierra Leone – The National Revenue Authority (NRA) has issued a stern warning to tax defaulters, giving them a 48-hour deadline to settle their tax obligations or face strict enforcement actions. The notice was released on Monday, April 14, 2025, by the NRA’s Public Affairs and Tax Education Unit.
The authority is initiating comprehensive recovery actions for both current and overdue taxes, which include Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE), Corporation and Personal Income Tax, Goods and Services Tax (GST), Payroll Tax, Rental Income Tax, Customs Duties, Petroleum and Domestic Excise Tax, Royalties, and Mining Licenses.
Defaulters are required to comply by Wednesday, April 16, 2025. Failure to do so will result in severe enforcement measures, including third-party recovery, business closures, travel bans, restrictions on clearing goods at ports, public shaming, asset seizure and auction, and potential lawsuits.
