In a groundbreaking move aimed at empowering its workforce and promoting long-term sustainability, Orange Sierra Leone has launched an Employee Shareholder Program, enabling staff to become part-owners of the company.

The initiative was announced during a high-level Town Hall Meeting at the company’s Hill Station headquarters on Monday, May 26, 2025, as part of a three-day visit by Elisabeth Medou Badang, Chief Human Resource Officer for Orange Middle East and Africa (MEA). This program represents a significant shift in the company’s corporate strategy, aligning employee contributions with ownership and fostering a framework for inclusive growth.

Agnes Songa, Human Resources Director of Orange Sierra Leone, welcomed Medou Badang and highlighted her visit as a testament to the Orange Group’s values of care, responsibility, and bold leadership. “While Sierra Leone is a small affiliate, our performance and impact within the Orange network are significant,” she stated. “We’re a top-performing affiliate, and this visit underscores that. Our CEO, Sekou Amadou Bah, has cultivated an environment where staff thrive, and this new shareholder initiative elevates that commitment.”

CEO Sekou Amadou Bah officially launched the Employee Shareholder Program, calling it a historic milestone for the company. He acknowledged Medou Badang’s pivotal role in the vision and implementation of the program. “This initiative reflects our strong belief that employees are at the heart of our success,” Bah remarked. “We are recognizing your hard work and inviting you to share in the company’s future prosperity as shareholders.” He explained that the program allows employees to acquire shares in Orange Sierra Leone, aligning their personal success with that of the company and enhancing morale, accountability, and loyalty.

In her keynote address, Medou Badang described the program as a “bold and visionary step,” reinforcing Orange Sierra Leone’s status as a leader in the MEA region. She congratulated the team for their outstanding performance in employee engagement, innovation, and financial growth. “You consistently rank at the top in engagement and satisfaction across the MEA region, and now you are leading again with this employee ownership program,” she said. “As Orange grows, so will your wealth—not just through salaries, but through dividends and shared success.”

Medou Badang characterized the launch of the Employee Shareholder Program as a symbol of trust, empowering staff to become co-creators of value in a company that now belongs to them in tangible ways. She also commended the warm hospitality of Sierra Leoneans and encouraged the team to maintain a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration. “This is your company, your home, and your legacy,” she said. “Continue to build it with pride, commitment, and unity. The sky is not the limit; it is your next starting point.”

The launch of the Employee Shareholder Program is expected to inspire similar initiatives across the Orange Group’s operations in Africa and the Middle East, marking a new chapter in employee-centered corporate leadership.
