Orange Sierra Leone, in collaboration with Mobihive, has introduced the Tross Phone initiative, a new device financing scheme that enables customers to purchase selected smartphones on credit and pay in monthly installments. The launch event took place on December 10, 2025, at Orange’s office on Rawdon Street in Freetown.

The Tross Phone scheme allows eligible customers to acquire devices from reputable brands such as Samsung, Tecno, Nokia, and Infinix over a four-month payment period. Currently available models include the Samsung A05, A06, A07, A16, Tecno Pop10, Nokia C01, and Infinix Space 10. These devices can be purchased at various Orange locations, with full nationwide availability anticipated in 2026.

To take advantage of the offer, customers must present a valid National Identification Card and be an Orange Money subscriber. An initial payment of 38%, which includes the first month’s installment, is required to gain immediate access to the device. The remainder of the balance can be settled over the next three months via Orange Money, with customers receiving two gigabytes of data for each successful monthly payment. Mobihive’s remote locking technology will be implemented to manage any defaults, thereby ensuring the sustainability of the financing model. Upon full repayment, ownership of the device transfers to the customer.

George Otis Campbell, who oversees Strategy, Innovation, Digital Content, and Devices at Orange Sierra Leone, emphasized that the initiative aims to help customers upgrade to quality smartphones without the stress of high upfront costs. He highlighted Mobihive’s role as a financial partner, providing essential capital and technology for the scheme. Campbell noted that onboarding is straightforward, requiring only a valid national ID, and there is no minimum duration requirement on the Orange network.

Mamadou Bousso, Chief Marketing Officer at Orange Sierra Leone, stated that the company is making strides to meet customer demands with practical solutions that enhance digital access. He underscored the importance of mobile phones for communication, business, education, and access to information, making affordability a priority for Orange. Bousso characterized the Tross Phone scheme as the best value financing offer of its kind in the country, reflecting Orange’s commitment to simplifying lives through digital innovation.

Mobihive Country Director Yuvraj Jaiswal hailed the partnership as a significant milestone for the company in Sierra Leone. Acknowledging the support from Orange management, he expressed gratitude for Campbell’s role in shaping the collaboration. Jaiswal noted that Mobihive, a UK-based technology firm specializing in fintech, data, and IT solutions, aims to positively impact users by integrating telecom, banking, and micro-financing platforms.

The launch of the Tross Phone initiative represents a crucial step in enhancing digital accessibility in Sierra Leone, providing customers a structured and affordable path to owning modern smartphones while strengthening the partnership between Orange and Mobihive.
