Speaker of Sierra Leone’s Parliament, Hon. Segepoh Solomon Thomas, met with a delegation from the World Bank and consultants from AH Consulting on Monday to expedite the implementation of the E-Parliament initiative, a key component of the Sierra Leone Digital Transformation program.

Emphasizing the project’s urgency, Speaker Thomas described it as a cornerstone of his legacy and called for accelerated progress. “I am in a hurry to ensure that this project is successful,” he declared, urging the Parliament’s ICT Director to collaborate closely with the consultants and prioritize swift advancements. He challenged the proposed six-month timeline, asserting the need for faster results. “I want this project to be one of my legacies as Speaker of Parliament,” he affirmed.

During the meeting, Herbert Rwamibazi, Director of AH Consulting, presented the project framework, outlining policy benchmarks, stakeholder engagement plans, and technical requirements. He assured Parliament that the initiative would lead to “effective service delivery” and align with the goals of modernizing legislative operations through enhanced digital infrastructure.

Reiterating his commitment, Speaker Thomas emphasized the broader significance of the E-Parliament project: “We all rely on this system you are developing. Expediting it is critical.” His push reflects ambitions to improve transparency and efficiency in Sierra Leone’s parliamentary processes, marking a pivotal step in the nation’s digital governance reforms. The initiative aims to digitize legislative workflows, enhance public access to parliamentary activities, and streamline administrative functions. Further consultations are expected in the coming weeks.
