Poem Corner: The Cheater’s Shame

By: Elizabeth A. Kaine

In halls of learning, where minds should grow

A secret lurks, a truth to know

Exams malpractice, a cheating game

Where knowledge is compromised, and integrity’s to blame

With notes concealed, and phones at hand

Some seek to pass, without making a stand

On their own merit, they fail to rely

And so they cheat, with a twinkle in their eye

But what’s the cost, of this dishonest gain?

A degree earned, but knowledge in vain

A mind untested, a soul unsound

A future uncertain, on shaky ground

For when we cheat, we cheat ourselves most

Of the chance to learn, to grow, to boast

Of true achievement, of honest pride

And so we sacrifice, our integrity inside

So let’s reject, this cheating way

And choose to learn, come what may

For knowledge is power, and integrity too

And with these values, our future shines through.
