The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) in the Makeni Division have apprehended two individuals and confiscated a significant quantity of illegal drugs during a recent operation.

Under the leadership of CSP Abu Bakarr Magona, officers seized 170 parcels of cannabis sativa along with NLe 68,000 in cash. The operation was prompted by a distress call from officers stationed at the Makoth checkpoint, who reported that a commercial vehicle (Registration No. AQG 299) had evaded a routine search and fled towards Makeni.

In a swift response, CSP Magona mobilized an operations team that successfully intercepted the vehicle at Ladies Mile, Makeni. Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered the concealed cannabis parcels. The suspects have been identified as Amadu Jawara of Kabala Town and Alhaji Sitta Jalloh of No. 7 Yeli Sanda Road, Makeni. Both individuals were taken into custody without incident.

The suspects, along with the confiscated drugs, have been transferred to the Rogbaneh Police Station, where investigations are currently ongoing.

The Sierra Leone Police reaffirm their commitment to combating drug-related crimes and ensuring public safety in the region.
