Police Uncover Major Cannabis Farm in Bo District During Joint Operation

The Sierra Leone Police have uncovered a substantial cannabis farm in Kpatema Village, Kpadebu Section, Kakua Chiefdom, Bo District, following a joint operation involving officers from the Operations Support Division (OSD) and Bo West Division.

This operation aimed to eradicate illegal drug activities in the region. Reports indicate that the farm was extensively cultivated, featuring planted cannabis, old pits, and seeds, suggesting that illicit activities had been ongoing for an extended period.

The operation was executed by a team led by Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Brima Kanneh, the Regional Police Commander South; Superintendent Alhaji Mustapha Senesie of the Regional Operations Office; Superintendent Jabaty, Regional Coordinator South of the OSD; and Inspector Almamy Mansaray, head of the Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) South.

During the operation, police apprehended Munda Brewa, a primary suspect residing in Kpatema Village, who was caught working on the farm. The police seized the cannabis plants and seeds for further investigation.

The head of TOCU has pledged a thorough inquiry, assuring the public that the suspect would face charges for his involvement in these illicit activities.

AIG Kanneh expressed gratitude to the local community for their cooperation in facilitating a successful operation. He reiterated the police’s commitment to transforming the Southern Region into a drug-free zone and maintaining law and order.
