On October 8, 2024, the Port Loko District Council took significant steps to enhance community development by providing essential operational tools to 28 local communities in the northwest district. The presentation ceremony took place at the Port Loko District Council compound.

The equipment distributed includes wheelbarrows, hoes, cutlasses, shovels, rakes, pickaxes, and head pans. This initiative responds to a request from councillors who identified the need for such tools to support minor community activities in their respective areas.

The distribution was managed by the council’s administration, ensuring an equitable allocation of tools among the councillors. To facilitate transportation, two escort vehicles were also provided for those traveling from remote locations.

Upon receiving the tools, Councillor Sankoh remarked, “Accept a gift for the sentiment that bears it and not for its value.”

These tools are expected to empower councillors and local youth to engage in various community projects, fostering collaboration and promoting development throughout the district.
