President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone recently held a constructive conversation with His Majesty King Charles III, the Head of the Commonwealth, in anticipation of the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) scheduled for October 21 to 26, 2024, in Apia, Samoa.
In a statement shared on social media, President Bio expressed his optimism following the call, stating, “Today, I had a productive conversation with His Majesty King Charles III… I look forward to a fruitful participation and a successful summit in Samoa.” This CHOGM marks a historic occasion as it will be the first to be hosted in a Small Island Developing State in the Blue Pacific, signifying a major milestone for Samoa. The biennial meeting rotates among member countries, with Rwanda having hosted the previous summit in 2022. The upcoming summit will serve as a vital platform for Commonwealth leaders to address pressing global issues and enhance cooperation among the 56 member states.
