A collaborative delegation from the Sierra Leone Housing Corporation (SALHOC) and Banga Group has conducted a thorough inspection of key sites designated for a significant housing development project aimed at constructing 5,000 affordable homes across the country.

The inspection encompassed three prime locations: 206 acres at Mile 6, 150 acres at Mapara, and 25 acres at Macdonald. These sites are set to become new residential estates, addressing Sierra Leone’s pressing housing shortage while offering citizens modern and sustainable living environments.

The tour was led by Banga Group Vice President, Mr. Sow Taguiyoulaye dit Yero, alongside representatives from the company’s Chinese partners. The delegation also included SALHOC’s leadership, featuring General Manager Mr. Joseph Munda Sandi, Deputy General Manager Mr. Emmanuel Tommy, and Banga Group’s Local Representative Alhaji Ibrahim Conteh.

This initiative builds upon a Memorandum of Understanding signed in July 2025 between SALHOC and Banga Group. Although the contract is nearing finalization, both parties are proactively preparing for the upcoming construction phase. Earlier this year, SALHOC executives assessed Banga Group’s capabilities during a visit to Niamey, Niger, where the company successfully completed a large-scale housing project, enhancing their confidence in replicating similar success in Sierra Leone.

During the site visit, Mr. Sandi emphasized that the project aligns seamlessly with the Government’s Medium Term National Development Plan (2023–2028), which prioritizes affordable housing. “This partnership represents a significant stride towards ensuring that every Sierra Leonean has access to decent and sustainable housing,” he stated.

Mr. Yero highlighted Banga Group’s vision of community transformation through modern housing solutions, referencing their achievements in Niger as a blueprint for success. Mr. Tommy noted the long-term social and economic benefits the project would bring to local communities, while Mr. Conteh characterized it as a generational investment poised to reshape Sierra Leone’s housing landscape.

Once launched, the initiative is anticipated to alleviate pressure on the country’s housing market, creating new avenues for families to secure affordable homes and marking a pivotal moment in Sierra Leone’s urban development strategy.
