The Embassy of Sierra Leone in Dakar is set to present an exhibition of Sierra Leonean art as part of the 15th edition of the Dak’Art Biennale. Scheduled for November 9, 2024, at the embassy premises, the exhibition aims to spotlight Sierra Leone’s rich cultural heritage on an international stage.

Producer Naomi Schram Ndao and curator Yasmin Metz-Johnson, who are leading the project, briefed the newly appointed Sierra Leonean Ambassador to Senegal, H.E. Mr. Ibrahim Turay, on the progress made in organizing the exhibition. Ambassador Turay expressed enthusiasm for the event, describing it as an ideal platform to advance his agenda of cultural diplomacy, which includes promoting Sierra Leone’s arts and culture within the region.

This year’s Dak’Art Biennale will attract a significant number of international and African artists and curators to Dakar, providing a prime opportunity for Sierra Leone to highlight its artistic contributions. The embassy’s exhibition is a collaboration with local and regional artists, aligning with the biennale’s commitment to African cultural expression and exchange. The event is expected to draw a diverse audience, including art connoisseurs, diplomats, and members of Dakar’s artistic community, underscoring the embassy’s goal of fostering a deeper appreciation of Sierra Leone’s creative landscape.
