Port Harcourt International Airport was the scene of a significant drug trafficking arrest involving *Kargbo Mohamed Foday, a man holding a **Sierra Leonean passport. Foday arrived on a Qatar Airways flight from Doha, with a stopover in Abuja. A body scan indicated the presence of ingested narcotics, leading to an observation period during which he expelled *1.348 kilograms of heroin, concealed in 62 wraps.
Further investigation revealed that Foday also possesses a Nigerian passport under the alias Onyekwonike Elochuckwu Sylvanus, aged 30. Authorities suspect he employs dual identities to facilitate international drug trafficking operations, with reported connections to Thailand, Pakistan, Iran, and various West African nations. Foday allegedly confessed to entering the drug trade in 2017.
This arrest is part of a broader crackdown by the Nigerian National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on drug trafficking activities.
In a separate incident at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, *James Herbert Chinoso, 48, was apprehended after excreting *63 wraps of heroin upon arrival from Madagascar via Ethiopia. Chinoso cited financial hardship stemming from a failed business venture in Liberia as his motive for engaging in drug trafficking.
The NDLEA has reported several significant drug seizures across Nigeria, including large quantities of synthetic cannabis, tramadol pills, and other illicit substances in Lagos, Kano, and Kogi State.
