The Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA) has initiated a new operation aimed at removing illegal garages and roadside obstructions throughout Freetown. The first phase of this initiative commenced on Monday, May 5, 2025, along the Hill Side Bypass Road at Dawazark Junction.

Led by Executive Director Mr. James Baggie Bio, the operation focused on clearing vehicles, motorbikes, Kekehs, and other items that were parked or abandoned along the road without authorization. SLRSA officials stated that this operation will expand to other areas in the city where street garages have been causing significant disruptions for drivers and pedestrians.

The launch event brought together several key figures, including SLRSA Deputy Executive Director and Head of Operations Mr. Josie A. Scott-Manga, Director of Safety and Enforcement Mr. Augustine Kaitongi, and the Director of Traffic. They were joined by a Joint Operation Team comprised of the Sierra Leone Police and the Road Safety Corps.

SLRSA emphasized that the primary goal of this initiative is to enhance safety and improve traffic flow by ensuring that public roads are clear and used appropriately.
