The Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA) is set to introduce Mobile License Services, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at transforming the process of acquiring driver’s licenses in the country.
Under the leadership of newly appointed Executive Director James Baggison, the SLRSA will deploy mobile licensing vehicles to communities nationwide, allowing citizens to obtain their driver’s licenses within 24 hours without the need to visit the agency’s headquarters.
“This initiative is about bringing services closer to the people,” a source familiar with the development told Sierraloaded. “We want to eliminate unnecessary delays and make road safety compliance more accessible for all Sierra Leoneans.”
This move marks a significant shift in the SLRSA’s operations, prioritizing efficiency and convenience. The mobile units are expected to streamline the licensing process, particularly benefiting residents in remote areas who have previously faced long travel times to access SLRSA services.
President Julius Maada Bio’s administration has reportedly endorsed the initiative as part of its broader commitment to modernizing public services. The SLRSA emphasized that the program will also enhance road safety by ensuring that more drivers are properly licensed.
The rollout date for the mobile licensing service will be announced in the coming weeks. If successful, officials indicate that this model could be expanded to other government services.
