In response to the alarming rise of lawlessness and indiscipline throughout the nation, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Morie Lengor Esq., convened a critical stakeholder meeting on April 7, 2025. The gathering aimed to address the deteriorating situation and its potential implications for national security.

During the meeting, Minister Lengor emphasized the Ministry’s core responsibility in enforcing law and ensuring internal security. He remarked, “The effects of lawlessness and indiscipline on citizens’ sanity cannot be overemphasized,” calling for a collective and sustained effort to tackle these pressing issues.

He stressed the importance of accurately defining indiscipline and lawlessness, highlighting that doing so is essential for prioritizing the necessary interventions. “Public education and sensitization are also key for the success of any intervention,” he added, emphasizing a proactive approach to prevent further deterioration.

The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Sahr Senesie, also addressed the attendees, noting that lawlessness and indiscipline are increasingly visible throughout the city. He acknowledged ongoing efforts to combat these issues, stating, “The SLP has been in strategic partnership as a collective means to fight against lawlessness and indiscipline in the country.” Senesie underscored the importance of identifying core problems, such as traffic law violations, in order to develop lasting solutions.

Participants from various institutional stakeholders echoed the Deputy Inspector General’s sentiments, asserting that meaningful progress can only be achieved through unified efforts. The meeting concluded with a proposal for a media campaign aimed at raising awareness and educating the public about lawlessness and indiscipline.

A series of tasks were assigned to specific stakeholders as preparations began for a follow-up meeting scheduled for April 15, 2025. It was also agreed that additional key stakeholders, who were absent from the initial meeting, should be invited to participate in future discussions to ensure comprehensive engagement in combating these challenges.
