By Saidu Jalloh, Reporter D.S.

Statistics Sierra Leone (Stats SL) has officially launched its Regional Cartographic Mapping Training, marking a significant step in the preparations for the 2026 Population and Housing Census. The training, which began today, is being conducted simultaneously in five regional headquarters: Bo, Kenema, Makeni, Port Loko, and Freetown (Western Area).

This week-long program represents the second phase of cartographic mapping training, aimed at enhancing the skills of regional field officers and mapping specialists. Participants will receive instruction in contemporary cartographic techniques designed to ensure accurate geographic data collection and effective mapping of enumeration areas throughout the country.

The initiative is essential for equipping Stats SL with the necessary tools to gather precise census data, which is crucial for informed policymaking and resource distribution in Sierra Leone.
