The Weight of Two

By: Elizabeth A. Kaine

In quiet hours before the dawn,
A single heart beats on and on,
With weary hands and hopeful sighs,
They carry dreams beneath the skies.

From morning’s light to evening’s close,
Through laughter, tears, and silent throes,
With every step, the burden shared,
A love that’s fierce, yet often scared.

They juggle tasks, both big and small,
A hero’s strength, they stand tall,
Yet in the night, when shadows creep,
They find the time to dream, to weep.

For every struggle, there’s a grace,
In every challenge, a warm embrace,
With love’s fierce flame, they forge their way,
A single parent’s heart will sway.
