Kabala, September 1, 2024 – The Kabala Division of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested two individuals, Joseph Fofanah and Alhaji Koroma, for the theft of solar panels and batteries from newly installed solar powered traffic lights in the township.
The traffic lights, donated by a patriotic individual residing in the United States, have been targeted by unknown persons who have been removing solar panels and batteries, causing concern among the community about the safety of public properties.
Following secret investigations, the CID, led by Detective Inspector Sao Suma, arrested the two suspects on Sunday, September 1, 2024, with the support of community members, including businessman Lamin Bangura.
The suspects were caught scaling a five-meter solar pole and stripping off a solar energy 12-voltage battery. The public has expressed relief and satisfaction over the arrests, commending the police for their efforts.
Detective Police Constable Bangura M. is leading the investigation, and the suspects are currently in detention. Local Unit Commander CSP Ibrahim Barrie has assured the public that all culprits will be brought to justice.
