FREETOWN, September 24, 2025 — In a significant case of deception, two Indian nationals were presented before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 today, facing serious charges linked to financial fraud involving prominent members of Sierra Leone’s judiciary.

The accused, Prakash Ramrakhyans and Sindhi Chamantall, stand accused of obtaining money under false pretenses, as defined by Section 32(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916. The prosecution alleges that the pair misled Ibrahim Koroma, a representative of Majestic Travel and Tours, by falsely promising to secure six round-trip tickets on ASKY Airlines to The Gambia for Chief Justice Komba Kamanda and five other judges.

According to Chief Superintendent of Police Tommy B. Zizer, Esq., the defendants collected Le 243,806 (approximately USD 10,160) from Koroma, fully aware that their promises were fraudulent.

After the charges were formally read, both Ramrakhyans and Chamantall entered guilty pleas. Following this, Magistrate Jah denied bail, remanding them to the male correctional facility in Freetown. The case has been scheduled for further proceedings on September 30, 2025.
