U.S. Ambassador Mediates SLPP-APC Talks in Bonthe

Bonthe District, Sierra Leone — U.S. Ambassador David Hunt held high-level discussions today with leaders from the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) and the opposition All People’s Congress (APC) in Bonthe District. The talks focused on advancing national unity, promoting democratic reforms, and fostering dialogue to strengthen peace and inclusivity in Sierra Leone.

Ambassador Hunt commended both parties for their progress in implementing the Agreement for National Unity and adopting recommendations from the Tripartite Commission. He urged continued commitment to these frameworks, which are essential for addressing political tensions and enhancing governance.

In his remarks, the Ambassador reaffirmed the United States’ support for Sierra Leone’s democracy and good governance, emphasizing that sustained reforms and collaboration are critical for the nation’s stability and development.
