The first-ever U.S.-Sierra Leone Defense Country Coordination Meeting (CCM) commenced on February 6th at the Army Headquarters, Cockerill Barracks in Freetown.
This two-day event convenes representatives from the United States Armed Forces and the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces to discuss and prioritize defense cooperation for the upcoming years.
Attendees include officials from U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), U.S. Naval Forces Africa (NAVAF), and Southern European Task Force Africa (SETAF), alongside their Sierra Leonean counterparts.
U.S. Ambassador Hunt underscored the significance of the meeting, characterizing it as a milestone in the shared commitment between the two nations to foster a more secure, prosperous, and resilient partnership. He remarked that the open dialogue and strategic planning would enable both countries to collaboratively address challenges and identify opportunities to ensure long-term security and stability for Sierra Leone, West Africa, and the United States.
