The U.S. Embassy has partnered with the Republic of Sierra Leone Air Force (RSLAF) in a significant initiative aimed at strengthening the air force’s capabilities and organizational structure.
A team from the U.S. Air Forces in Europe-Air Forces Africa (USAFE-AFAFRICA) recently visited Sierra Leone for a week-long exchange focused on sharing expertise and best practices. Subject matter experts from the USAFE-AFAFRICA Manpower, Organization, and Resources Division provided valuable insights to support the overall development of the RSLAF.
The collaboration centered on creating a comprehensive plan to enhance SLAF capabilities within the tri-service construct of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces. This initiative aims to improve the RSLAF’s ability to deter threats, ensure territorial integrity, and address conflicts to protect vital national interests.
During the exchange, the American team conducted briefings and facilitated discussions on various topics, including manpower management, database systems, individual career progression, strategic planning, air force doctrine, process development, and staffing formulas. Brigadier General David Sahr Ngaujah, Chief of General Staff of the RSLAF, expressed a keen interest in future engagements to further explore U.S. Air Force best practices in evaluations, assignments, and training.
The U.S. Government remains committed to partnering with Sierra Leone to develop a professional and effective air force, continuing collaborations to ensure a safe and stable region.
