UniMak Triumphs at ECOWAS University Debate Championship

The University of Makeni (UniMak) has secured victory at the prestigious ECOWAS University Debate Championship, a significant event organized by the ECOWAS Volunteers Program. The competition took place at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development Conference Hall in Freetown, attracting elite academic institutions from across Sierra Leone.

Representing UniMak, Mr. Abdulai Barrie and Miss Lamarana Samualla Gibateh showcased exceptional debate skills, finishing first with an impressive average score of 83. Their performance surpassed that of competitors from Fourah Bay College (FBC), the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM), and Milton Margai Technical University (MMTU). This achievement further cements UniMak’s standing as a leader in debate and public speaking.

This victory exemplifies UniMak’s ongoing commitment to fostering intellectual debate, logical reasoning, and competitive rhetoric. The UniMak Debating Council has established itself as a formidable entity, consistently raising the bar for intellectual and linguistic excellence both within Sierra Leone and beyond.
