Josephine Kargbo, a dedicated mother, entrepreneur, and civil servant at the Ministry of Education in Sierra Leone, is urgently seeking medical assistance in her fight against breast cancer.
Josephine’s journey began when she discovered a lump in her left breast after breastfeeding. Following her concerns, she underwent surgery at Connaught Hospital, where the lump was removed and sent for testing. Unfortunately, just weeks later, she noticed new lumps in the same breast. “Fear and worry consumed me,” she recounted. “When I received the final lab results, my worst fear was confirmed—I was diagnosed with Invasive Breast Carcinoma of no specific type, Grade 3.”
Doctors recommended an immediate mastectomy, but the associated costs were overwhelming. “I also struggled with the emotional toll of losing my breast, especially after already undergoing multiple surgeries, including a C-section to bring my child into this world,” she said. Seeking a second opinion, Josephine traveled to Ghana, where further tests—including a mammogram, biopsy, and CT scans—confirmed she had Invasive Breast Cancer, Grade 1.
Recently, she began chemotherapy, describing the experience as incredibly challenging. “Being far from home, struggling financially, and trying to balance my health with my responsibilities has made this fight even harder. But I refuse to give up.”
Josephine is reaching out to breast cancer organizations, medical aid groups, and charities worldwide for urgent assistance. “Please, I need your help. I want to live for my son and my family. I need financial assistance to continue my treatment and survive this battle. Please give me a second chance at life.”
