Woman Arrested After Allegedly Setting Husband on Fire in Freetown

A tragic incident unfolded in the Motomeh community of Freetown on Friday, November 15, 2024, when a woman named Hawa allegedly set her husband, Naibeyu, on fire. 

According to eyewitnesses, Hawa poured petrol on her husband and ignited the flames inside his shop, where he sold provisions and beverages. Reports indicate that both Hawa and Naibeyu operated separate shops within the same building, with Hawa focusing on foodstuffs while her husband managed the provisions and beverages.

Sources claim that Hawa had been accusing Naibeyu of bringing his alleged lovers to his business premises and had vowed to take drastic action against him. Following the incident, Naibeyu was rushed to Connaught Hospital in critical condition, while Hawa is currently in police custody pending further investigation.
