In a significant court session, two juveniles, Milford King and Nyakeh Lahai Kallon, appeared before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No. 1, facing serious allegations of burglary and theft that could have lasting ramifications on their futures.

The duo is charged with housebreaking and larceny, in violation of Section 25(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916. According to the charge statement, on March 3, 2025, at No. 3 Kamara Drive, Milton Margai College Road, the defendants allegedly broke into the home of Amina Mans and stole a total of 4,000 new Leones in cash.

In a second count, the accused are alleged to have entered the dwelling of Sarika Kamara at the same location, stealing several items including an engagement ring valued at $200 (approximately 2,400 Leones), Apple AirPods worth 5,200 (approximately 4,880 Leones), a large tin of Vaseline valued at 500 new Leones, an HP computer worth 5,000 new Leones, and a hard drive valued at 2,440 new Leones. Inspector M. Bangura presented testimony from Amina Mans, a businesswoman and the mother of one of the accused. She recounted receiving a call from her daughter while at work, informing her of the break-in. Upon her return home, Mans discovered substantial damage, including a broken kitchen door and ransacked bedrooms, as well as missing items, including a church bag containing 3,000 new Leones. Additionally, she found a shirt that did not belong to her family on her bed. Concerned, she contacted her son’s friend, George, who later visited Milford King’s house and identified the shirt, leading to King’s arrest.

Mans subsequently reported the incident to the Adonkia Police Station, providing a detailed statement.

During the proceedings, the defense counsel applied for bail for the accused. Magistrate Kekura granted bail for Milford King in the amount of 100,000 Leones, requiring one surety residing within the jurisdiction with a valid identification card. Bail was denied for Kallon.
