Episode 10: “UNDECIDED” Is No Longer Neutral
By Dr. Doma
In Sierra Leone today, sitting on the fence being “undecided” is more than uncertain.
It’s dangerous. Here’s why:
U – Underestimate & Unprepared
The SLPP is fully armed for 2028.
They’ve quietly manipulated power: recent appointments like an ECSL Commissioner for the East were made without consulting any opposition, showing they’re stacking the deck early.
The violence and heavy police presence at their internal elections, especially in Tonkolili, prove they won’t hesitate to use force .
N– National Reach Matters
SLPP’s weakness is becoming APC’s chance.
In the South-East, music and youth are increasingly critical of Bio’s leadership . Meanwhile, inflation and living costs are squeezing even the party’s heartlands .
APC must choose someone who speaks not just Temne or Mende, but all Sierra Leone.
D – Dangerous Dependence
Some believe international actors will check SLPP’s power.
The truth? Visa bans, IMF freezes and silence from the government reveal fragile oversight.
We cannot rely on outsiders.
We must build local strength—strategy, system, readiness.
E – Economic Collapse, Engineered or Ignored
IMF has called out SLPP for cooking inflation statistics—from 54.5% down to 13.1% and slapped a freeze on budget support .
At the same time, America has imposed visa bans due to weak migration controls and surging drug trafficking.
People are paying more for basic goods, which shakes trust in the regime.
A serious flagbearer must offer real economic fixes, not slogans.
C– Credibility & Crackdowns
SLPP has targeted dissenters: arrests of opposition MPs, market leaders, even trade union officials.
Media freedom is crushed .
Sierra Leone needs someone whose character and actions can survive scrutiny from local journalists to international monitors.
I – Insecurity & Intimidation
We’ve seen attempted coups in late 2023; military purges followed.
SLPP used this as justification for repression, house arrests, detentions, threats .
Many APC members are under surveillance.
A weak leader risks demoralization when intimidation begins.
D – Distrust & Disunity
The APC itself must be united no room for divisions.
Meanwhile, SLPP is fractured—First Lady vs. Chief Minister, old vs. new guard.
This gives APC a chance but only if you guys stay solid and choose someone who can unify.
E – Existential Danger
Visa bans, frozen IMF aid, volatile macroeconomics, and political repression aren’t just warnings they’re real-time crises.
Staying undecided lets SLPP entrench these.
We risk losing not only elections, but a decade of opportunity and national growth
D – Delay = Defeat
Every week of indecision helps SLPP tighten its hold. They’re engineering the situation; you can’t wait for tomorrow to decide.
APC delegates must act now.
Bottom Line
Being “undecided” isn’t safe, It’s a threat and It allows:
•SLPP to stack institutions
•Security tools to intimidate opponents
•The national economy to worsen
•International trust to fade
•APC’s window to close
Dear APC Delegates:
Your choice isn’t about popularity or ritual, it’s about resilience, readiness, unity and results.
In 2028, Sierra Leone will need a leader who can govern, not just campaign.
Are you ready?
Your silence and delay matter.
They shape the future.
Pick strength, pick strategy and pick Sierra Leone.
