FREETOWN — The long wait for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) is over.
The Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, Dr. Conrad Sackey, has officially announced that the results will be released today, 27th October 2026, at 12:00 noon.
The announcement was made in a statement issued yesterday, 26th October, with the Minister confirming that the official release will be done through the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC).
According to Dr. Sackey, the announcement became necessary following widespread misinformation and fake news circulating on social media about the examination results, including posts from accounts impersonating him.
He warned that those accounts do not represent him or the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE).
To put an end to impersonation, the Minister said all major announcements from his office will henceforth be communicated first through video messages in his own voice and thereafter published on his verified social media platforms.
Dr. Sackey cautioned pupils, parents and the public against believing purported WASSCE results circulating outside official channels and urged them to verify information before sharing.
He also warned parents and guardians against paying money to individuals who claim they can provide results before the official release, describing such offers as scams.
Addressing candidates directly, the Minister acknowledged their hard work and patience, noting that they deserve accurate and credible information about their future.
He called on parents, guardians and teachers to remain vigilant and rely only on his verified pages, the Ministry’s official communication channels and SLBC for authentic updates.
The official announcement is slated for noon today.
