A medical doctor was detained on the orders of Magistrate Julian Mary Gbloh during a recent session at Pademba Road Court No. 5 in Freetown due to disruptive behavior amid a protracted property dispute hearing.
The case involves Victor Davies, Celia Davies, and Charles Davies, residents of No. 7B May Street, Kingtom, who are opposing Baba Shola Chinsman Hu of No. 47 Wellington Street. Chinsman Hu faces two charges under the Devolution of Estate Act No. 21 of 2007.
According to the charge sheet, the first allegation states that between August 23, 2007, and October 1, 2025, as the sole surviving Executor and Trustee of the late Mrs. Amistricia Ainor Whitfield’s Will, dated July 14, 1996, the accused failed to probate the Will and transfer the properties to the rightful beneficiaries, thus denying them their lawful entitlements. The second count accuses him of unlawfully interfering with the deceased estate, adversely affecting the beneficiaries’ rights and interests.
Tensions escalated during the hearing when the accused allegedly engaged in a heated confrontation with the presiding magistrate. In response, court officials reported that Magistrate Gbloh ordered the temporary detention of the doctor in the court’s holding cell to restore order and maintain decorum.
Following the incident, the court adjourned the proceedings, which remain under judicial review as the estate dispute continues.
