Washington, D.C., April 19, 2026 Health Minister Dr. Austin Demby has mobilized more than $800 million for the Global Financing Facility’s Transform 2030 Investment Round, rallying commitments on the margins of the World Bank Spring Meetings.

Addressing sovereign donors, development partners, and global health leaders at the Mayflower Hotel, Dr. Demby renewed his call for sustained and predictable investment in country-led health systems. The session formed part of broader talks on pandemic preparedness and global health security.

He urged partners to adopt the GFF’s “4 A’s” framework — Alignment, Acceleration, Accompaniment, and Accountability — and stressed that country ownership must anchor effective health financing. “Invest in resilient and accountable systems,” he told delegates, noting that fragmented support weakens national responses.

Dr. Demby said the funding milestone underscores Sierra Leone’s leadership in global health and its drive for equitable access for women, children, and adolescents. He added that lasting partnerships and innovative financing remain critical to strengthen national systems and ensure rapid responses to future health emergencies.
